Kerhjarla to Jodhpur – 78K (Taxi)

Yesterday’s ride left me spent – I have a raw throat from the dusty dirty air and I am hoarse and coughing. I am physically drained from yesterday’s ride and I chose to take the day off from riding and ride the taxi to the next town with Jan and Candie who are still not feeling 100%. Our bikes and bags were loaded on the tour van and we hopped into the taxi. Taxi rides are stressful and I got shotgun again. I took a picture of one of the many OVERLOADED vehicles on the road – we’ve come face to face with many of these on our little one lane roads along the way too.

After getting our rooms and stuff settled, we set out to do some shopping – specifically Indian clothes. Our tuk tuk driver took us to a nice shop.

The salesman in the shop showed us their handmade fabrics – he pulled them from the shelf and there was a monstrous stack of them building as he tossed the ones we didn’t want over his shoulder. There were a bunch of young men waiting in the wings to fold everything back up when we were done with them. It was funny! After we selected our fabrics, the tailor came in and took our measurements – he would make them up and have them to us at our hotel by 9pm tonight. I’ll have to let you know how that turns out. I pulled myself out from under the fabric and took this picture in the shop:

We left this shop and had our driver take us to a restaurant – a “good” restaurant. It’s very important what/where you eat here… but I’m sure I already mentioned that. We used our purel on our hands and silverware. While we sat in the shade waiting for our lunch we spotted a construction worker climbing up to work on the top of a nearby building about 8 stories up… it’s crazy dangerous here!
