Mysore – Rest Day
I drank a Coke later in the day yesterday and was wide awake half the night from the caffeine! Fortunately I could sleep in and make up for the lack of sleep early on. The plan for the day was simple: Coffee, FabIndia, the flower market, then back to the hotel.
Coffee was great! FabIndia is a famous store where we found some clothes yesterday and decided to go back for a second look. J Then we were off to the flower market which turned out to be a market for all kinds of things but they DID have LOTS of flowers too! Here’s a few pictures in the market. The first one below is a corner fruit stand with oranges, apples, coconuts, cantaloupe and grapes to name a few:
Sacks and sacks of flowers and flower garlands are for sale. Flowers are used everywhere here. They are used to decorate cars, and homes and doorways, and in temples and shrines. Many of the women have the garlands in their hair… they are just beautiful and are everywhere! Here are some vendors with their flowers for sale:
The jasmine flower garlands are my favorite – they smell so sweet! This man is stringing the jasmine on long threads. When you purchase a garland, they simple cut the length that you want and tie the ends together.

Back at the hotel we read the sign used to communicate with the group. Here’s the kind of info we are likely to see on any given day. This one requires a response from the riders – voting on awards for our end of the trip party it looks like. It also includes information on the rides coming up before our next rest day… etc.
Here’s picture of our bikes in the entry at that hotel... it works!!!
